Perhaps, one of the reasons Shroud and Summit1G love this headphone is how Audio Technica combines comfort with astounding sound quality.
Sure, when you think of the big guys in the gaming headset industry, your mind might not think of Audio-Technica. But they make one of the best gaming headsets in the industry.
We know it’s one of the best because some of the big names in the industry can’t seem to get enough of this headset. By design, it is clear that Audio-Technica had two goals in mind while creating this headset.
They wanted to create a headset that was comfortable and produced high-quality, immersive sound audio for gamers. The result? They came up with the Audio-Technica ATH-ADG1X, which seems to have become celebrity's favorite.
Generally, the headset is lightweight, thanks to the metal grille. It comes with 53mm drivers, open-air dynamic hardware, and velvet fabric padded earcups. The pads made of velvet fabrics contribute to the maximum comfort you derive from wearing this headset.
You can wear it all day without feeling the strain. The best part is, the velvet fabrics are sweat-resistant. So, you don't have to bother about the earpads getting all sweaty from wearing them for extended periods.
The microphone attached to the headset's left ear is pretty flexible, making it easy for you to adjust it to your needs. Aside from its flexibility, Audi-Technica designed the microphone with a windscreen that aids recording from any direction.
As a result, the microphone picks your voice clearly while drowning out the ambient noise. The headband is reinforced with 3D Wing Support for additional comfort.
Performance and Usage
When it comes to sound quality, this headset delivers maximum quality. Of course, it has its combination of its drivers, frequency response, sensitivity, and impedance to thanks for its astounding sound quality.
The drivers make it one of the ideal headsets for F.P.S. (First Person Shooter) games. When we put it to the test, we were blown away by how precise the sound quality was.
We also noticed that it gave us a fully immersive gaming experience while bestowing us a massive competitive advantage. You'll be thrilled by how realistic the explosive noises, the shooting sound of the bullets, the whirring sound of helicopters, cars, the hasty sound of footsteps, and more becomes.
I tell you boldly that with this headset, every sound comes fully alive. You'd feel like you're right inside the game. Think about the effects that this headset gives you, like the effect you get from watching a movie with 3D glasses.
Except, this time, it’s an audio experience. If you’re more of a music person, you’ll still enjoy using this headset. Frankly, Audio-Technica designed this model to cater to every audio need, from gaming to music.
While creating this headset, Audio-Technica carved it with specific features that distinguish it from other headsets in its class. First, it doesn't come with an extravagant design like other headsets.
When you sit it on your neck, it won't flash any lights or whatsoever. However, you'd notice how impressively lightweight it is. So, when you sit the headset o your neck, you almost wouldn't feel it on your neck as it is light.
It is also very comfortable that you can wear it for extended periods. Unlike other headsets, you'd have to take off your ears to relieve the ear strain. Then, you won't need to worry about the earcups getting sweaty.
Our personal favorite stand-out feature is how Audio-Technica effortlessly combines comfort with an all-around immersive sound experience.
Also, this headset is wired. But it is very functional. The connectivity wire comes with an in-line control that helps with muting the Supercardioids microphone.
You can also control the volume with the in-line controls. Now, you might get confused at first as the in-line controls mute function affects the microphone, not the entire sound of the headset

Product Alternatives -Audio-Technica ATH-AG1X
If you're looking for another equally great Over-ear, closed-back gaming headset from Audio-Technica, then you should opt for the ATH-AG1X headset. For starters, I love the colors. Although it is majorly black with a touch of red around the ear and microphone, I think the color combination is attractive.
Also, it has not headband. In place of the headband, Audio-Technica deployed two flaps. They refer to it as "wings." You can fold the flaps at the sides.
Aside from the colors and wings, the audio quality is superb. It delivers high-quality audio that immerses you in the game with the realistic sounds it produces. But there’s more!
Audio-Technica designed this headset with a double air damping system (D.A.D.S.). The purpose is to produce enhanced, resonating bass that’s extremely deep.
However, unlike the ATH-ADG1X that delivers 48ohms, this headset offers a little bit more- 50ohms. Nevertheless, whatever you do, do not attempt to use this headset at lower volumes. Unlike with a higher-end headset, you won't like what you hear.
Although the Audio-Technica ATH-ADG1X has a few flaws, it delivers excellent sound quality. However, if you need a headset for strictly gaming purposes, you might opt for other headsets.
But if you need a headset that you can wear for extended periods, this headset is for you. Besides, you can also use this headset outside of gaming.
You can stream your favorite music with this headset while you enjoy the redefinition it gives to your favorite songs. Audio-Technica skillfully combines the elements of comfort and immersive sound quality to provide you with a masterpiece.
