How to reset JBL Flip 4?

If you want to know how to factory reset your JBL speaker to its default settings, these instructions will provide you with just that information. If you reset your speaker, the speaker restores the factory default state. That means all the settings will get refreshed, and you will get a speaker just as new as it was after buying.

Remember, refreshing and factory resetting your JBL speaker will delete all the previously paired devices. You will have to pair devices again. But the problem is, this time, you won’t be able to pair your speaker with the devices you paired before.

And, that’s why we would suggest that if you no longer wish to pair the devices that are already paired with your JBL speaker, then go for factory resetting. Or else, think twice.

So, let’s not take any longer and jump into the steps of resetting the JBL Flip 4 speaker.

1. Turn the JBL Flip 4 Speaker On

First things first, you need to turn on your JBL speaker to reset it. If it’s already on, you can switch to the next step, but it is better to turn it off and turn it on again. But if it is not on, press the power button and hold it until it is lit up.

The power button and the battery scale lighting up indicate that the JBL speaker is on. Also, you will hear a rising electric guitar strum sound from it after it gets on. But here’s this thing you might not have known before.

That is, if your Bluetooth is already connected to devices, then the power button produces white light after getting on since it skips the Bluetooth discovery mode. But if the power button produces blue light, it means you haven’t paired it with other Bluetooth devices yet.

2. Press the Volume Up and Play/Pause sign Together

This is the most crucial step. Because this is the step for which your JBL speaker will reset to its factory, for this step, you will have to press the “Volume Up” (+) sign and the “Play/Pause” sign on your JBL speaker together for a while until it turns off.

If it turns off completely, you will hear a guitar sound, and the power button will not light anymore. The speaker is completely off due to pressing these two buttons to indicate that the speaker is on its factory reset mode. Now that it has been reset to factory settings, you will connect the Bluetooth with any other devices except the previous ones.

3. Press the Power button

This very step is important to check whether your JBL Flip 4 speaker has actually reset or not. For that, you will have to press the power button again to turn it on, as you did previously. But this time, your JBL Flip 4 speaker should be reset to factory settings.

As we said before, if the color of the power button light is blue, then it indicates not being paired with any device yet. So, if your speaker actually resets, then the power button should be blue after turning on as it will not pair with any previous devices. But if it is not, then maybe for some reason, it didn’t reset.

But don’t judge if it’s reset or not by the power button light. Check whether the previous Bluetooth connections are still paired. If not, then try pairing new ones. If everything works well, then Congratulations! Your JBL Flip 4 speaker has been successfully reset.

How to Reset JBL Charge 4

Were you looking for a way to reset JBL Charge 4? Don’t worry. We have that for you as well here. This time, the terms for resetting to factory remain the same for JBL Charge 4 speakers like the JBL Flip 4.

In fact, after factory resetting in most of the JBL speakers, the previously paired Bluetooth devices will get erased from the memory. Also, they might not be able to pair with the same devices again. So, make sure if you want that to happen.

Now, let’s dig into the steps of resetting the JBL Charge 4 speaker to the factory.

1. Turn the JBL Charge 4 Speaker On

As we discussed previously in JBL Flip 4, you have to turn on the speaker first in this case. But the indications you will get on JBL Charge 4 speakers on starting aren’t quite the same as the JBL Flip 4 speaker.

When your JBL Charge 4 speaker turns on, only the power button will light up. If you have already paired your speaker with other Bluetooth devices, then the Bluetooth button will not light up.

On the other hand, if you haven’t paired it with anything yet, it will light up along with the power button after turning it on. Like the JBL Flip 4 speaker, there will be power up the sound of a rising electric guitar strum.

2. Press the Volume Up and Bluetooth Signs Together

This time, you have to press your volume up button along with the Bluetooth button for a while. Hold them together until the power button, along with the Bluetooth button and the oval ring around them, lights up brightly.

If they do so, that means your JBL Charge 4 speaker is resetting to its factory mode now. Could you wait until the speaker turns itself off? Once it turns itself off, all the lights will go out, along with making a Power Off guitar sound. Turning off indicates that the factory reset is done.

3. Press the Power button again

But, hey, you’re not done with your steps yet. Don’t leave the room without checking whether your JBL Charge 4 speaker has actually reset or not. And to check that, you have to turn on the speaker again

Repeat the steps you did before for turning on the speaker. But this time, after it turns on, the Bluetooth sign should also light up along with the Power sign. Since, after resetting, the speaker returns to the Bluetooth discovery mode.

So, if you see your Bluetooth sign light up along with the Power button after turning it on, know that you have successfully reset your speaker. Now, your JBL Charge speaker has returned to the mode it was just after buying.

  1. Hi,

I have a JBL Xtreme (1st gen) and suddenly the Bluetooth pairing button is unresponsive. I know Bluetooth is still working, because I have a phone that still connects with it, however we can’t pair a new device. The speaker does turn on, but when I try holding down the Volume up and Play/Pause button for 60secs, nothing happens. It dims the LED on the power button but it never powers down for the factory reset. Seems to be stuck in standby mode, unless a previously paired device is nearby and connects to Bluetooth. suggestions?
